The Hobson Golf Club Seniors Section, considered by many to be one of the best run & organised sections of any club in the North East, has 120+ over 55 year old senior men members and manages competitions every Tuesday & Thursday throughout the year, including two Open Competitions, an Invitation Open and many other Trophy Competitions.
We invite all own members to take part in Team Games against 8 other clubs (Oakleaf, Matfen, Roseberry, Ravensworth, Prudhoe, Crook, Heworth & Washington) and every one wishing to do so is guaranteed to play home & away against at least two of those clubs.
The section is an integral part of the Club and makes regular use of the Clubhouse with free buffets after some competitions, a very popular Christmas lunch and at least two social evenings for members and partners/friends every year.
All we ask is an annual £5.00 ‘fee’ and member support, some of whom give their time to repair and brighten up the course with money raised by the section via our very own football buster.
Message From Glyn Brown – Seniors Captain 2015
The Seniors Captain for 2015, Glyn Brown and Vice Captain Bill Delaney would like to wish all Senior members an enjoyable and successful season.
Members are encouraged to select the team games that they are available to play. We have arranged sixteen games on a home and away basis against eight teams. Members are asked to select a minimum of one home and one away game (not necessarily against the same team) and Glyn and Bill will produce a fixture list with the teams for the whole season.
It needs to be emphasised that team games for the Seniors are sociable matches where like minded golfers share a round of golf, a meal and a drink. The dress code is smart casual on and off the course.
Anyone not interested in team golf is encouraged to sign up for a friendly match to be played with our friends at Rothbury at the end of the season. Details will be announced later.
